The glassmaking art of the renowned Venetian company has just celebrated its centenary. It was in 1921 that the name Venini first came to Murano with the foundation of the Cappellin Venini & C. furnace by Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappellin.
From the very beginning, Venini glassworks enjoyed great success and were included in the Venice Biennale exhibition in 1922. Since then its rise has been unstoppable, over the years seeing numerous illustrious collaborations with internationally renowned artists, architects and designers such as Carlo Scarpa, Gae Aulenti, Ron Arad, Napoleone Martinuzzi and Tadao Ando, to name only a few. With simple lines, soft colours and a sober style, these are the hallmarks that have made Venini’s art unique and appreciated worldwide, sanctioning its role as a leading company in the glass-making manufacturing world.
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Venini, today part of the Damiani group, has created a limited edition of 100 pieces of the iconic Veronese vase in three new colours: powder pink, Rio green and oxblood red.
Hyatt Centric Murano Venice, which has always been immersed in the island’s glassmaking tradition, hosts a permanent exhibition of Venini’s works and recently hosted a photo shoot to mark this important anniversary.
