We try hard to make sure that the information is always accurate and up-to-date. However, fares might change and transportation systems undergo variations because of events over which we have no control (e.g. fog or strike). The city of Venice relies on an efficient transportation system which includes services operated both by public and private transportation companies. There are several ways to reach Murano. Click on the dedicated heading to be forwarded to the appropriate information and learn more about the mode of transportation that best suits your needs according to your position and expected time of arrival into Venice.

OVERVIEW

This section is an overview of the water bus routes to/from Murano Island. To learn more about the transportation options available to get to the Hotel, follow the directions listed below according to the place of arrival into Venice.   • The water bus stop of Fondamente Nove (on Venice main Island) is definitely the most important to us. As a matter of fact, from that place waterbuses 4.1/4.2 and NMU depart all day and night long from the pier “B”. Frequency is every 10 minutes during the day, every 20 minutes between 9pm and 11pm and every 30 minutes during the night. Remember that your destination is Murano Museo
  • Route 4.1/4.2: they are circular lines which operate starting from the early morning until late evening. Both lines stop at Fondamente Nove and Murano Island with more than two dozen stops along the way icluding, among others, the St. Mark’s Square and the train station. For your convenience, from the St.Mark’s Square the quickest line back to the Hotel is the 4.1. Conversely, if departing from the Hotel, the quickest line is the 4.2. Keep in mind that the last waterbus 4.1 from the St.Mark’s Square is at approximately 8pm. Hence, after that time, walk to Fondamente Nove stop pier “B” to board the vaporetto back to the Hotel.
  • Route NMU: this acronym stands for “Night Line Murano Island”. This line goes from Murano Island to the main Island of Venice (Fondamente Nove stop) during the wee hours
  • Route 3: a semi-express line which connects the Island of Murano, the railway station S.Lucia and the car and bus terminal of Piazzale Roma. This is the quickest route during the day
  • Route 12: this is the boat to take if you want to visit Burano and Torcello Islands
  • Route 7: it is a seasonal (Spring to early Autumn) express line from Murano and the St.Mark’s Square and viceversa
  • Route 18: it connects Murano with the Lido Island. The line operates only during a short period each Summer
  • Alilaguna Blu and Red lines allow you to reach Marco Polo Airport at economical fares in only 30 minutes

CheBateo? (literally “Which Boat” in the Venetian dialect) is an app developed by a young Venetian guy who wanted to make the life of Venice’s inhabitants easier! Showing the vaporetto routes and schedules, the app can turn itself into your best travel companion while exploring Venice and its lagoon.

Simply select the desired departure and arrival stops, and the app will show you the vaporetto routes available. Note that for some destinations there are multiple routes that could bring you there. For example, since line 4 is a circular path around Venice, you could travel in a clockwise direction on line 4.2 or a counterclockwise direction on line 4.1 to ultimately end up at the same destination. The app makes it simple to understand which line is quickest for you. It also helps to check the app since depending on the area where you are, the journey on a water bus, which travels clockwise instead of counterclockwise, could take you twice as long! ACTV is the main public transportation company in Venice operating a numerous fleet of water buses (vaporetti) and routes. The vaporetto is indeed the cheapest way to visit Venice by boat, especially if purchasing a multi-day pass. To learn more about tickets, click on the corresponding section below. The connection between Murano and the main Island of Venice F.te Nove stop is guaranteed 24/7.

Alilaguna boats connect Marco Polo Airport to Venice and its islands at economical rates. Remember that Alilaguna and ACTV services are separate entities. Therefore, their tickets are not interchangeable.

In contrast, the private water taxi is by far the most luxurious and comfortable way to reach Venice or Murano since it ensures a quick transfer to the selected destination. This option is particularly convenient if travelling in a small party of people since the cost can be split among many more passengers. The private water taxi is recommended for night transfers or in the case where you have heavy and/or multiple pieces of luggage per person.

ACTV Tickets

Single ticket costs €9.5 per person, whether for one stop or for a whole tour.

If you plan to use the water buses several times during your stay, you should consider the purchase of the “Time Limited Ticket”. This kind of travelcard offers better value than the single ticket: allowing you to hop on and off any ACTV vaporetto during the period of its validity, you can maximize your savings. The validity starts from the exact moment the card is first validated. Remember to always validate your ticket before boarding the vaporetto, and if the machine does not work, make sure to notify the captain. The costs per person are the following: €25 (24h), €35 (48h), €45 (72h) and €65 (weekly pass). They may not seem inexpensive, but considering you have unlimited use of the transport system, they are well worth it!”. Check out this page.

When buying the “Time Limited Ticket”, you will receive an e-voucher which has to be exchanged for physical ticket. You will be asked to exchange it at the first ticket office/ ticket machine you find. The sooner the better. However, if you find yourself unable to exchange the voucher for a ticket (e.g. late at night, on non-working days, or at minor water bus stops), keep the e-voucher with you and exchange it as soon as possible the following day or at a different stop.

Alilaguna Tickets

Normally, tickets in the airport can be purchased at the the Alilaguna booth or by using the ticket machines. On Murano Island, refer to the ticket office located at Colonna stop. Tickets can also be purchased directly on board, but make sure that you have cash. Credit cards are not accepted on the boat! Avoid buying tickets online: unless you are able to exchange the e-voucher at the ticket office prior to boarding, you will be asked to buy tickets again once on board! HOW TO GET TO THE HOTEL FROM

Public Transportation Alilaguna Blu | all-year round

Year 2021: in response to the COVID-19, the service schedules may vary (e.g. current frequency is not the usual). We strongly encourage you to double check the schedule prior to leaving to get access to the most updated information. Effective July 2021 and until further notice, this line will stop at Murano Museo (the very first stop) which is located literally outside the hotel’s doors. So practical!

This line runs regularly all-year round from approximately 4:30 AM to 00:30 AM. A boat leaves the airport every 30 minutes during the day and every hour in the very early morning. The single ticket to Murano is €8 per person. The boat will take approximately 30 minutes to reach Murano Colonna stop. Once alighted there, it is possible to get to the Hotel on foot while enjoying a pleasant 10-minute walk along Rio dei Vetrai and Riva Longa streets (only one bridge to cross which is a rarity in Venice!) or by changing boat to Murano Museo where the Hotel is located. The latter option is advised for those having heavy and/or multiple pieces of luggage per person or travelling with a disability since it avoids crossing the bridge. Public Transportation Alilaguna Rossa | seasonal 

Year 2021: this line is temporarily suspended until further notice.

This is the easiest way to reach the Hotel from the airport and the most convenient since it stops literally in front of the Hotel’s entrance. The stop is Murano Museo. This line usually operates from mid-April to the first week of November. A one-way ticket to Murano costs 8€ per person. First departure at approximately 9:40 AM, last one at 7:40 PM. The journey will take approximately 25 minutes.

Private Water Taxi

A private water taxi will take you straight to the Hotel from the airport pier. The cost of the service may vary according to the transportation company and it depends on the number of passengers. The cost of the ride usually starts from €110 per way up to four people. For extra passengers a supplement applies as well as a surcharge of €10 will apply for night rides from 10 PM to 7 AM. The boat will take approximately 20 minutes to reach the Hotel. Email us at info.centricmurano@hyatt.com to pre-book your transfer. Advance booking is highly recommended and required for night rides.

Treviso Airport is located in Treviso, a town on the mainland which is approximately 35 kilometers away from the Island of Venice. The following directions are meant to provide you with an overview of the possible options available. For detailed directions, in particular for arrivals in the night, please email info.centricmurano@hyatt.com .

Public Transportation (Bus + Water Bus)

Land transportation from Treviso Airport to Venice Piazzale Roma is provided by the company ATVO, whereas water transportation is provided by the local company ACTV. The total cost of the journey is around €20 per person if buying single tickets only, and the duration is about two hours in total. Once you reach Venice Piazzale Roma by coach, it is possible to choose one of the following water bus lines to get to the hotel’s stop (Murano Museo): line 3 (until 6:45 PM) which takes approximately 30 minutes, line 4.2 (until 9 PM) which takes roughly 45 minutes, or line 5.2 to Fondamente Nove and then to Murano Museo from 9 PM to 11 PM. An alternate option is the Private Water Taxi whose cost for a ride is about 80€ up to four people. Payment is in cash on board. The journey will take 25 minutes. For night rides and extra passengers, a surcharge applies.

Private Transfer

This is by far the most exclusive and comfortable way of reaching the Hotel. This option includes a tailored meet & greet service at Treviso Airport and a combination of private transfers by car and water taxi to the Hotel.

The cost of the service starts from €190 per way for two people and €220 up to four people with six pieces of luggage. The whole journey will take approximately one hour. Combined Transfer

This option is meant to allow you to take advantage of the complimentary hotel shuttle if available at your expected time of arrival. It is consists of a personalized meet & greet service at Treviso Airport, a quick and comfortable overland transfer to Marco Polo Airport by private car and a water transfer by the hotel shuttle to Murano Island (the shuttle will operate under the regular conditions available here). The cost of the ride by car is €110 per way for two people and €120 per way up to four people and six pieces of luggage. This option will allow you to reach the airport water terminal on time to take the shuttle and will provide us with a precise time of arrival for the shuttle pick-up. If reaching Marco Polo Airport from Treviso on your own, it will not be possible to estimate a precise time of arrival and arrange the pick-up by boat. Venezia S.Lucia is the main and only train station in Venice city center, whereas Mestre station is situated a few kilometers away on the mainland. If you plan to reach Venice by train, make sure of selecting S.Lucia as your desired destination. Not only will you have the opportunity to enjoy a breathtaking view of the lagoon while approaching the town, but you will also be able to reach the city center directly avoiding stop-overs on the way. High-speed trains to/from the major Italian cities run frequently from S.Lucia.

Public Transportation ACTV line 3

This line operates from approximately 6:30 PM to 6:45pm and departs from the train station’s stop called Ferrovia. The cost for a one-way ticket is €9.5 per person. The more convenient multi-day pass can be bought as well through the company’s online shop available here. The journey will take 25 minutes to reach Murano Museo which is located right outside the Hotel’s lobby. For arrivals later than 6:45 PM see directions below concerning the line 4.2.

Public Transportation ACTV line 4.2 (5.2)

Line 4.2 runs from approximately 6:30 AM to 9 PM with a frequency of 20 minutes from the train station’s stop called Ferrovia. A single ticket costs €9.5 per person. Alternatively, it is possible to buy the more convenient multi-day pass. The boat will take roughly 45 minutes to reach Murano Museo.

For arrivals later than 9 PM, take the line 5.2 which runs every 20 minutes until 11:20 PM. Once it reaches Fondamente Nove stop, it may be necessary to alight and take the water bus line 4.1 or NMU (Murano Night Line) to reach Murano Museo stop. In fact, at some times during the night, the line 5.2 continues the journey to Murano Island as line 4.1. To cover the whole journey, it will take about 45 minutes. We strongly recommend asking the on-board personnel whether it will be necessary or not to change boat at Fodamente Nove. Private Water Taxi

Private water taxis as well as a water taxi rank can be found on the bank of the Grand Canal by the big stone bridge. The cost for a ride up to four people starts from €80 (payment in cash to the taxi driver) and the journey takes 20 minutes. You will be dropped off in front of the Hotel. A surcharge applies to night rides from 10pm and 7 AM and extra passengers. Contact us on info.centricmurano@hyatt.com to book your transfer. Advance booking is highly recommended and required for night rides.

Piazzale Roma is the only place accessible by car in Venice city center. At Piazzale Roma you will find two parking garages: Garage San Marco (book here) and Autorimessa Comunale (book here). There is a slight difference in terms of cost between the two. Beware that during high season months they become full quickly and therefore it is advisable to book a car park ahead of time through the website. If arriving by car, we usually suggest Marco Polo Airport parking garages since they are less busy and closer to Murano. In addition, if parking at the airport you may want to check the availability of the complimentary hotel’s shuttle.

TIP: at Marco Polo airport opt for the parking areas P1 and P4 as they are closer to the water terminal

Public Transportation ACTV line 3

This line operates from approximately 6:30 AM to 6:45 PM and departs from the stop Piazzale Roma. The cost for a single ticket is 9.5€ per person whereas the cost for the more convenient multi-day passes depends on their duration (see here). The journey will take 25 minutes to reach Murano Museo, the stop located literally outside the Hotel’s lobby. For arrivals later than 6:45 PM see directions below concerning line 4.2.

Public Transportation ACTV line 4.2 (5.2)

The line 4.2 runs from approximately 6:30am to 9pm with a frequency of 20 minutes from Piazzale Roma stop. A single ticket costs 9.5€ per person. For the more convenient multi-day pass, have a look at the company’s website. The boat will take approximately 45 minutes to reach Murano Museo stop.

For arrivals later than 9pm, it is necessary to take the line 5.2 which runs every 20 minutes until approximately 11pm. Once it reaches Fondamente Nove stop, it may be necessary to get off and take the water bus line 4.1 or NMU (Murano Night Line) to reach Murano Museo stop. In fact, at some times during the night, the line 5.2 continues the journey to Murano island as line 4.1. To cover the whole journey, it will take about 45 minutes. The cruise port of Venice includes two different terminals: the Marittima and San Basilio. Check the name of the terminal your ship will be moored at and choose the most suitable mode of transportation accordingly.

Public Transportation People Mover plus Water Bus line 3 (Marittima Terminal)

Once disembarked the ship, leave the Marittima Terminal and reach the People Mover station, a stop where a small train departs every 7 minutes to Piazzale Roma. The journey takes a couple of minutes only and the single ticket costs €1.5 per person. From Piazzale Roma, take the water bus line 3 which operates from approximately 6:30 AM to 6:45 PM. Tickets can be purchased on the spot at a cost of €9.5 per person for a one-way ticket. For the more convenient multi-day passes, click here. The boat will take 30 minutes to reach Murano Museo.

The alternate transportation options are the Alilaguna Blu line (available all-year round) or Red line (available from mid-April until the first week of November). The Blu line takes 1 hour 20 minutes to reach Murano Colonna which is the closest stop to the Hotel. In contrast, the Red line takes approximately 1 hour to reach Murano Museo, the stop in front of the Hotel’s lobby. In both cases, a single ticket costs €10 per person.

Public Transportation ACTV line 5.2 (S.Basilio Terminal)

The water bus line 5.2 is a valid option to reach the Hotel from San Basilio Cruise Terminal. The water bus leaves from S. Basilio stop. Tickets can be bought at the nearby tobacconist or directly on board in cash only. The cost of the single ticket is €9.5 per person while the cost of a multy-day pass depends on its duration. From S. Basilio, the water bus will reach Fondamente Nove stop where it will be necessary to change line and take the 4.1/4.2 to Murano Museo. The journey will take approximately one hour in total.

Private Water Taxi

This means of transport is available both from Terminal Marittima and San Basilio. The cost of the ride varies according to the company that provides the service and usually starts from €100 up to 4 passengers. The duration of the journey is approximately 30 minutes. This is the quickest and most comfortable way to reach the Hotel and it represents a great opportunity to enjoy Venice and its canals in a very exclusive way.
